"TELL, TELL"
Kinetic sculpture, 2001

This is a kinetic sculpture with a 9' long wood beam that is connected to live birds in a cage. Every once in a while, the beam rises up, making a growl sound. And then it goes down with a pathetic 'tat-tat' sound. Since it's connected to the birdcage, this causes the bird cage to go up and down, while the birds chirp in contrast to the sound of the wood. In a metaphorical way, this speaks to the nature of communication that could be both difficult and poetic at the same time.
